1. Hazel Food Market

Where: Greenlyn Village Centre, Menlo Park.

When: Every Saturday from 8am to 2pm.

This pop-up market has 78 dedicated food stalls situated along the exterior of the Menlo Park triangle, looking inwards towards a beautifully treed centre. This authentic food market brings the freshest ingredients with a direct producer-to-consumer ethos. Visitors can enjoy some of the purchased produce at the benches and tables under the trees. Hazel Food Market also has some night market gatherings – a great evening out while sampling wholesome fair.

 

2. Montana Family Market

Where: Corner Enkeldoorn Avenue & Sefako Makgatho Drive, Montana Park.

When: Tuesdays to Sundays and Public Holidays 9am to 5pm.

This family-friendly flea market is a truly enjoyable day out. Boasting more than 500 stalls retailing a range of quality products and services, there is so much to peruse at Montana. The Pretoria Boeremark is all about fresh, traditional and homemade goods. This old-fashioned market is a three-time winner of Eat In magazine’s ‘Outstanding Outlet: Market North of the Vaal River’ award for its real fusion of cultures and senses. There are a range of homemade items – jams, clothes, woodwork and jewellery – as well as fresh produce.

4. Market @The Sheds

Where: 381 Helen Joseph Street, Pretoria.

When: Last Saturday of every month.

This urban African market is a project of the Capital Collective, a non-profit organisation dedicated to inner-city rejuvenation in Pretoria. It has a vibrant atmosphere which attracts a diverse visitor segment all seeking fine wines, cocktails, craft beer, gourmet food, great music and the latest in fashion and art across the 50 to 60 stalls. 5. Irene Village Market

Where: The Big Red Barn, 7 Nelson Road, Olifantsfontein.

When: Every second and last Saturday of the month from 9am to 2pm.

Renowned for its handcrafted pieces situated on the stunning grounds of Sunlawns Estate overlooking the Kaal River, Irene Village Market is an excellent site for family entertainment. The art-focused market has strict guidelines which allow for only original art and craft. The Big Red Barn also has various fun activities such as Acrobranch and Segway, as well as mountain bike and trail run routes. A great weekend market. 

6. Deep Roots Market

Where: CBC Old Boys Club, 78 George Storrar Drive.

When: Every Friday.

7. Evergreen Housewives Market

Where: Evergreens, Corner of Vom Hagen and President Burger

When: Weekdays 7am to 5pm, Saturdays 7am to 3pm

Based on the Tshwane Fresh Produce Market, this large-scale greengrocer market has a range of stalls selling a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, breads and deli products. This is a great way to get fresh produce directly from the growers.
